What is Haim?
Haim is an American pop rock band based in Los Angeles. The band consists of three sisters, Easter Heim (bass), Danielle Heim (guitarist and vocalist) and Alana Heim (guitarist and keyboard player). In addition to the instruments for which they are primarily responsible, the members are proficient in several other instruments. The pop style of the band’s studio work contrasts with the more rock-based sound of their live performances. The sisters, who were born into a musical family, first formed Haemoo in 2007 but didn’t see it as a career for years. After Daniel became a successful touring guitarist with Jenny Lewis and then Julien Fernando Casablancas, the three decided to form the Sea Moose in 2012.
The band’s debut album, a limited-time downloadable mini-album Forever, was a mix of South by Southwest hits that eventually led to their signing to Polaroid Records and a management deal with Jay-Z’s Rock Nation in mid-2012. The band recorded material for their first album, Old Times, during the creative phase between Tours that included Glastonbury. The album reached the top ten in several countries, while the band won several Best of the Year awards in 2013. The band was nominated for Best New Artist at the 57th Annual Grammy Awards.
